Smiley faces on utility bills increase energy... →
squashed: This is rather amazing. The utility company showed customers how their utility usage compared to neighbors with similar homes. Those who did well got one or two smiley faces. Those who did poorly initially got a frowny face, but people got up set about the frowny faces, so they were discontinued. Apparently the program worked. Apparently we are so competitive by nature that a desire to...

(like it has been for the past 2 months, and will continue to be for the next 2 months) I find myself spending time on flickr searching for places that are warmer and more colorful. I don’t know if that makes it easier or harder to bear.

Dear cellphone,
Could you try maybe ringing when the call is coming in, and not just to notify me that I missed a call? Because I was sitting next to you the entire time. I think maybe you missed the call.

– Bryon McDonald: Thoughts, 1 PM This so where I am right now. If you went through my journal from the past few years, this is what you’d find. (Though probably not so eloquently.) I think I might be starting to see a direction for myself. Not a destination yet, but at least some co-ordinates...

Birthday Info
(robot-heart:pinkpolkadots) From http://www.paulsadowski.com/. The most fitting part? 11 September 1984 Your birth tree is Weeping Willow, the Melancholy: Beautiful but full of melancholy, attractive, very empathic, loves anything beautiful and tasteful, loves to travel, dreamer, restless, capricious, honest, can be influenced but is not easy to live with, demanding, good intuition, suffers...

bebelestrange: When I was little I used to hang upside down over the side of the bed, looking at the ceiling, wondering what it would be like if the ceiling was the floor. I’m probably alone on this. Totally not the only one. Didn’t you read Mrs. Piggle Wiggle, who lived in an upside-down house, and whose ceiling actually was her floor. (And who also teaches children to be nice and polite....

Question of the Day.
Why is Too Legit to Quit a 5 min and 36 second song? I mean, at the beginning I’m in! Too Legit! Too Legit to Quit! At about the 3 min mark, I’m thinking “okay, Mr. Hammer, I think it’s about time to quit.” I mean, there’s only so much early 90’s “hey heey! yea yeaaa-ah!” background singing a person can take.

So I don't think I like Coldplay.
They were never my fav, but I thought I was neutral on the “Coldplay, yea or nay” debate. But I’ve realized I can’t sit through a whole Coldplay song without hitting the “next” button. Sorry Coldplay.

Scientists Welcome Obama’s Words - NYTimes.com →
In early 2004, more than 60 influential scientists, including 20 Nobel laureates, issued a statement claiming that the Bush administration had systematically distorted scientific fact in the service of policy goals on the environment, health, biomedical research and nuclear weaponry. The administration, it said, had “misrepresented scientific knowledge and misled the public about the...
